The Big East never fails to disappoint. . .

Just when you thought it couldn’t get worse, Rutgers loses to Tulane 17-14.

So the Big Eastdoesn’t have any ranked teams and Rutgers just lost to Tulane. There’s still more football to be played! Unless you don’t have an internet service provider that is on ESPN3’s “list.” Then there is no Big East football for you.

Hey Schiano! In a league of crap, your team might be the worst.

UConn scored the Big East’s second win of the season over a BCS conference team (Dear God!). The Huskies jumped out to an early lead, gave it up, then kicked Vandy’s ass in the second half. This was all inferred by me from following the score. I don’t actually have ESPN3(.com) because Time Warner is a bunch of liars doesn’t carry it.

Just as I said Rutgers would easily beat Tulane and cover the spread, the Green Wave sprung a pretty big upset in Piscataway, New Jersey. In my book, this surpasses UConn’s loss at Temple as the most embarrassing loss of the season. First, it was at home. Second, Tulane is worse than Temple.

By the way, Pitt is barely leading Florida International.

Pitt vs. Florida International
ESPN3.com

So far this season, FIU has played mediocre eastern football teams and looked just menacing enough to not be completely overlooked. Coming off the ass-kicking by Miami, if Pitt wins by less than 10, then I’d say there’s cause for real concern for the rest of the season. Probably reflecting the Pitt fans’ indifference and/or apathy for the rest of the season, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette doesn’t have a whole lot of coverage on this game. And by “not a whole lot,” I mean I don’t see any… other than this one about the defense.

There’s a quarterback controversy brewing between Pat Bostick, who sucks, and Tino Sunseri, who also sucks but is young so there is potential that he won’t suck next year. PittBlather.com has an open thread for discussion throughout the game. Don’t let that dissuade you from posting once or twice on this here blog.

Schnellenberger... also overrated, but far more fun than Schiano.

USF vs. Florida Atlantic
ESPN3.com

USF hosts the Owls of Florida Atlantic, who, last I checked, are coached by Howard Schnellenberger. If college football were boxing, Schnellengerger would be Mike Tyson (but without the criminal record). Schnellenberger won a national championship with Miami, got Louisville’s program off the ground, and has done nothing at really crappy football schools since.

USF won 35-23 , in 2007, the last time these two teams played. USF’s defense is working to create some turnovers. USF should have no problems whatsoever in this game. The Tampa Tribune has a brief preview of the game with the pertinent information, which includes the following:

Owls DB Tavious Polo and DL Daniel Joseph, both starters, were among four Florida Atlantic players suspended for tonight’s game for their role in an off-campus party, according to reports.

Also at 7:00 p.m.
Louisville at Arkansas State
ESPN3.com

Arkansas States is defensively suspect a team with a shitty defense. The Louisville Courier-Journal’s Tom Heiser says that a matchup that pits a 1-2 Sun Belt team against a 1-3 Big East team doesn’t exactly count as “something to do” in Jonesboro, Arkansas. This game will be closer than what Cardinals fans hope for. In other words, if Louisville wins this game by more than two touchdowns, I would walk away from it very excited about the rest of this season. Who knows? You may win the friggin’ conference title.

Syracuse and West Virginia… take the week off.
